Grammy Week Has Come and Gone

Last week was Grammy Week and it was CRAZY!!!! We forgoed all of The Red Carpets and mingled with our friends instead. Due to the loss of my mother and our Sis Kim being in town, we wanted to have one on one time, with our friends whom we only get to see once a year. And we did just that.

Sorry for being MIA, as last week was crazy and this week, I’m somewhat under the weather. I never get sick, but there’s the strain of infection going around, so I’m taking all great natural and homeopathic Remedies to give me a push back up to full blown status๐Ÿ˜œ

Here are some pictures from an eventful week. One definitely to remember.

My New Nightstand

My New Nightstand

On my night stand, I have all of things that I love. It’s really a comfort factor for me. Before I left for Massachusetts, I had a really beautiful piece by my bed, but it was small and had no space. It was a vintage table, that now lies in our staircase hallway. It’s a perfect fit for that spot!

I went to Goodwill, Homegoods, TJ Maxx, Ross and Target looking for something that I would feel comfortable with and where I could fit my favorite things. I landed on this piece from Simmons Hardware at one of local Goodwill Stores. It’s called White Clad. It’s an icebox/side table and it’s in the color walnut, with gold embellishments. It’s a structured, wooden piece of furniture that is very sturdy. I had heard of Simmons Hardware, but never owned any of their pieces. This particular piece is regularly priced at $120-$160. I bought mine for only $14.99. I got a complete steal. I decorated the top of my new nightstand with scrapbook paper, which has become a dream area. I also decorated the door as well, but I might change it. It’s nice, but not dreamy.

Due to my grief of the loss of my mother, I just need comfort. I feel the happiest in when I am comfortable. Being comfortable has been hard to achieve, since I have returned to Los Angeles. So my nightstand is the one place where I can just turn, look and see some of my favorite things. Whether, it’s my favorite picture of my husband and I, some natural perfumes, some Organic Rose Tea or my Mrs. jewelry dish, I’m reminded of the beautiful things and people that make me happy. The top of my nightstand is decorated with hints of pink, rose, gold and black. Once again, inspired by my mother.

Take a look at my Goodwill find and things in which, I find comfort in.

Thank you again for all of your support. Your emails mean so much!!

My DIY Vanity. I have our Wedding Centerpiece on it. I pasted our wedding petals onto the glass and added some fake gold flowers from the dollar store. A love frame, my mothers gold mini basket, a shoe ring heel (my husband gave this to me as a gift) and my fragrances and perfumes. Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo and Bvlgari for decoration!

Our Wedding Announcement!!!!

Scrapbook paper and tape and a journal card, completes this easy and masculine wall art.

Scrapbook paper and tape and a journal card, completes this easy and masculine wall art.

Continuing this series of Work/Creative Space blogs, I’ve been coming up with my own ideas based on some awesome posts and videos, that I’ve seen on Pinterest and on YouTube. But making them your own…that is the key.

I’ve always loved black sleek frames. I just always feel as though a space isn’t put together without them. Maybe my infinity for black chicness will never go away. And in continuing my love for them, I found black frames from Michael’s in which are now being sold at our local dollar store, for just $1.99. I believe the original price at Michael’s is 13.99. Just the frames alone would have cost $60 with the tax. I purchased 4 of them for only $8. What a steal!!

With 2 of the frames, all I did was unlock the fastens in the back and turned the paper over that it comes with. The back of the design paper is white, which again saved some money. I looked through my Cardstock and Scrapbooking paper and found a gorgeous piece of pink coarse, glitter, textured paper. I then tried to contrast it with something either black or gold and I came across this gold and pink beautiful grained design paper, which reminds me of my mother! I took out my paper cutter and cut 3 inch strips and I lined them upright and adjacent to one another. Iย secured the back and done. I also added some gold and silver glitter scrapbook tape to line the bottom. It adds a lovely addition. So easy, so simple, so cost effective. This literally cost $4 to make. I now have my own, very glamourous, vanity that I love!

Next, I used the other frame as a wall decoration. I got these journaling cards from a pack that I had purchased from the Teresa Collins line at JoAnn Fabrics. I took 2 cards out that I loved. One is a pastel & punctuation mark and another is one with cities around the world, some which I have visited. I wanted this piece to be very sleek and not too feminine. This again cost around $4.

I then took a small cardboard box that was lying around & stapled it together. I didn’t have my glue gun handy, so I used scotch tape instead. I took the left over fabric that I used for my wall art and made a tray. I lined that with some scrapbook snake design tape, used some left over flexible pink petals from our wedding. I added our framed wedding announcement and put it right inside the box. And now we have our own customized box, with beautiful wedding memories to last a lifetime.

Lastly, I just wanted a hint of masculinity for my husbands sake, LOL. Again, all I did was take a piece of Cardstock and added a worldย globe journaling card to it. Then I added some of that same snake skin Scrapbooking tape and put it up onto the wall. That’s its!!!

All of these ideas are inspired by my mother, as you know. She is my angel and my world. I miss her so much. With each project that I try, her inspiration is in every piece.

If you do re-create any of these ideas, I would love to see them!

New Workspace Decor…On a Budget ๐Ÿ†•๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ฒ

This fabric is AWESOME!!! It matches my mothers curtain so wonderfully. We were so excited! This pattern reminds me of Parisian womens work attire. Reminds me of the most beautiful woman in the world; my precious mother.

My husband had these acrylic containers which keeps him organized. So I ordered one from Amazon. I like that it’s see through and from the sides, I can actually see my files. I cut out some of the most prettiest piece of Cardstock and added some gold letters saying “Punkypicks.” The nickname that my mother gave me, reminds me of her everyday.

This wall is right above my lamp. I mimicked the fabric with some journal cut outs from Teresa Collins. I wanted to have a delicate wall area with a really strong standout piece.

Hi Everyone, wanted to share my latest inspiration with my new workspace decor. It’s definitely been a work in progress. For starters, there is so much to choose from and I’m on a budget. I got everything on sale. I’m trying to “brand” my conceptual ideas together joined with a cohesive theme. I want everything that I love and am inspired by to be reflected in my own space. I didn’t want to go for a minimalist approach. I’ve done that in my past apartments and it’s genuinely uninspiring. So, in my mind, I have been going back to August in which this whole idea began, when I started talking to my mother about doing this. I find myself inspired by my mother’s home. She had such a warm environment. Then I reflected on her services and the colors that we chose were gold, pink and hints of purple. So I incorporated those color palettes as well. I also wanted a chic space with colors that I love, which are pink, gold, white, black and rustic vintage. So, I’m working with the new colors and textures; piecing together the space that I have and some space that may be under utilized, which will be phase 2. And that I can’t really start until phase 1 is just about completed.

In my new area, I have my mothers gorgeous black and gold curtains up. I have had them for 2 years. Therefore, my wave of inspiration, is a spinoff of those. I told my husband I will never change these curtains, cause their just so beautiful. And that’s where my landscape of creating began. My daughter and I went fabric shopping at you guessed it? JoAnn Fabrics. The inspiration was endless and we got colors to match and make some of our own creations!

Here is too continuous creation!

Made this card as a reminder to myself in what I’m in pursuit of!

Hi Everyone,

I apologize for the delay in filming my workspace video, but our camera was stolen (long story) and we are in the process of replacing it. It may take a few weeks to film it, but it will be done by February. I’ve had such awesome feedback about this new blog and so many are so happy about me creating this and I am too. It makes my ๐Ÿ’ so happy! The fact that I did this on a DIY budget makes me even happier. And I know that a lot of readers and friends are on a strict budget, as well as myself. So this was an innovative project with lots of budget friendly ideas, which came to fruition.

I’ve been asked to give links to everything that I have purchased, which I will list below.

I’ve also been asked aside from my mothers Memoriam, what is my stand out piece which I created; I would have to say my Teresa Collins desk decor and accessories area. IM LITERALLY OBSSESSED with her decor. I mean LITERALLY. For starters, it’s gold, it’s practical and it’s so chic. Her top quality pieces with a DIY project, her price point is even better. Before all of the rage with Kate Spade graphic office accessories, gold didn’t make much of statement four years ago. White was on trend, due to celebrity homes and office decor made IKEA the “it place” to go to.

I had my space at my old apartment decorated with mainly items from Pier One Imports. It was very vintage and earthy, which worked its way back into fold about 3 years ago. Then when Valentino parused Fashion Week in Paris, his pable of black staples worked its way into office life. I also went for an all black theme after that. I stuck to very structural textures that were easy to manage, since I was working ย 14-16 hour days.

Because this is a temporary space for us, I didn’t want to invest in a lot. But even if this space was permanent, Teresa Collins decor would still be my best friend. Her studio gold pieces are just beautiful and keep me very organized; one my themes of 2015. From paper clips and glitter stars, to stationary cards that capture the saying “SHINE” on them, I think that I have been in very good hands!

Enjoy the links attached and thank you for being excited about this new endeavor in my life. This work/creative space has made a world of difference through this heavy time of grieving the loss of my mother.

Sending all of you Light and Love!

Punky

New Work/Creative Space โœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ“Žโœ’๏ธโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“†๐Ÿ“‡

If someone would have told me a year ago, “Punky, your gonna become a DIY apprentice.” I would have laughed! But here I am, with more projects and ideas that I can handle. This past week is certainly proof of that! I created my dream work space.

Our flameless, battery operated candle wasn't getting any love. It's now on the center of my table!

My friend gifted me this Planner. I recreated the front with pink & silver glitter card stock. I also used the caption "hustle." It's something my mother used to say to me often. Fun and keeps me organized.

I’m also filming my area and am trying to price every single item, so all of you can create a space or even one piece, if you so wish.

Here are a few picks from my very innovative week.

Dreamcatcher…

Starting last August, I was planning to redo my work space. The environment in which I create my content, write music, practice the latest makeup trends and try on my Red Carpet outfits. I kept telling my mother that I needed to get all of it done. She kept telling me “Punk, you’ll get it done when you get back, don’t worry.” And I didn’t want to leave and she didn’t want me to leave, so I stayed…and then she died, so I never left Massachusetts.

Once I returned,, I found little to no inspiration, to getting back to the community in which I work in and love so much, nor did I care about Social Media (and still don’t! ๐Ÿ˜œ) So as you can imagine, it was even difficult to find inspiration in preparing for a new work space. I created and designed a temple in honor of my mother and I started there. I’m adding beautiful new pieces of art, some I’m designing myself. I’m adding key pieces that I am slowly purchasing or already had, but were being utilized in the wrong way.

Tonight, my husband took down my old memory board and alas…starting all over. Here is a picture of my vision coming to life๐ŸŒ โญ๏ธ.

PS. I found so much inspiration from my Mothers clothes that I now have and Mother-In-Laws house. They are both simply the best!

Be Inspired. Be Hope. Be Love.

My New Blogging Space and Favorite Products 2015

Just wanted to briefly share what I’m using and loving starting off 2015, most of which is natural and/or organic. I created a new blogging space as well, which has helped with the grief. It’s in honor of my mother…very sacred, very vintage.

Hope everyone is doing well.

My new blogging space with artwork. It's reflective of my mothers love of flowers. It simply states, You Are Beautiful. Just like my mother.

Organic Natural Deoderant and Perfume in Jamaican made strictly from flowers. My sisters friend makes this and she surprised my husband and I for Christmas, with a few of these. The company is based in Boston. This smells divine.

When I returned from the East Coast, my family got me 4 of my favorite Body Butters of all time! They are seasonal, so these should last me until the spring!

Mineral Fusion Natural Lipstick in Inspire. Love the name right? I don’t typically go for neutral pinks, but this is just divine and I LOVE wearing this! The packaging is the best that I’ve seen!

Although I mostly wear natural makeup, with the grieving has come so many emotions. I use color to express my feelings. The MAC Lipsticks in Sin (right) expresses my emotional complexity and Fleshpot (left) represents my emotional state…Light to Dark, both make me happy!

Pacifica is a brand in which I own some key products and love. My mother loved their Liptint. These perfumes are just divine. Brazilian Mango Grapefruit (right) is a light, floral, fruity scent. It is very light and ethereal. Very daytime appropriate. Malibu Lemon Blossom (right) is a darker, floral, sexy, salty scent. Very nighttime appropriate. These are awesome!

Tokyo Milk, one of my favorite brands! These range from dark and dusky, to mature and risque. Their perfume range is wide and vast, universally appealing to everyone. Everything and Nothing is my new fav, very reflective of the grieving process.
